Depending on their intended use, chemicals must meet stringent purity standards — making trace analysis essential. This web seminar provides expert guidance on analyzing total organic carbon (TOC), nitrogen, sulfur, and chlorine in both inorganic and organic fine chemicals. For TOC/TN analysis of complex sample matrices, the choice of digestion technique plays a crucial role in shaping maintenance cycles and long-term operating costs. We present approaches such as powerful UV oxidation and specialized combustion tubes that help overcome matrix-related challenges in the TOC/TN analysis of hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric acid, electroplating bath solutions, lithium-ion battery salts, and brine. A second focus of this web seminar is the analysis of sulfur, nitrogen, and chlorine in ultrapure organic chemicals such as hydrocarbons, fatty acids, and alcohols. Their low element content and complex matrices demand more than sensitive detectors. Reliable results require optimized sample handling, matrix separation, and smart calibration. We discuss how fast, accurate, and standard compliant results can be achieved for volatile, low-density liquids near detection limits.
Wichtige Lernziele:
- Identify the optimal digestion method for TOC/TN analyzers to ensure economic and application-specific efficiency
- Learn how to successfully analyze high salt samples for TOC
- Explore how sample handling and calibration strategies help in the analysis of S/N/Cl in ultrapure organic chemicals
