The SpeedMill P12 is a highly efficient homogenization system for various starting materials that are to be used for the subsequent isolation and purification of DNA, RNA or proteins.
The homogenization process is based on an innovative mechanical principle for which a patent has been filed. Through this new process, the substantial sample warming that occurs with other homogenizers is prevented; thus, the SpeedMill P12 can be operated continuously if necessary.
The SpeedMill P12 is manufactured using the latest carbon fibre technology. In operation, the homogenizer is comparatively quiet.

Complete preparation of nucleic acids
The samples to be processed are rapidly and efficiently homogenized in Lysis Tubes that have been specially optimized for the system and that contain different and applicationspecific beads. Through the use of beads, even the most resistant starting materials such as bones, cartilage and also chitin shells of insects, for example from a tick, can be completely and reproducible homogenized within a very short time.
The operation of the instrument, such as loading and removing the sample tubes, is very simple. Tools are not needed to operate the instrument. The homogenization parameters can be freely selected.
Sample preparation kits for the SpeedMill P12
For sample preparation, 2.0 and 0.5 ml containers (Lysis Tubes) with different beads are available. Thus, sample processing can be optimally adapted to a diverse range of soft and hard starting materials.
In addition to the normal sample preparation kits, optimized kits for the complete isolation of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) from various starting materials are also available for the SpeedMill P12. These kits contain special Lysis Tubes with application specific beads as well as pre-made buffers. Furthermore, these kits also contain all other components needed for the isolation of DNA or RNA from various materials. The kits are optimally adapted to sample processing using the SpeedMill P12 and hence, permit extremely rapid and very efficient nucleic acid isolation.
Both the yield and quality of the isolated nucleic acids are excellent. The standard protocol for the isolation requires only about 20 to 30 minutes.
